Microsoft office is getting a big update especially the mobile experience, office mobile that was once exclusive to Samsung devices are now coming to every user or Android or iOS. Along with a new feature that allows you to quickly turn pictures of texts to word documents the one-app implementation of Ms word, PowerPoint and Excel in one app rather than three separate apps.

But what’s worth mentioning is the new office logo. It’s particularly striking for three reasons.
Firstly, Microsoft has kept the portfolio icon which has become a trademark of the office app since windows 10 and office 360.
Secondly is the new Apple-esque gradient. The gradient just seem to transcend the experience to a whole new level presenting the MS Office as more of a creative suite while keeping the business feel. Microsoft Office logos has always been rigid and lacking in the kind of fluidity that will attract a creative minded persona pretty much all-business, a situation we fondly refer to as serious here in Nigeria. The new office logo is a clear statement that office is more than just a business tool, it is also a creative software.
Thirdly the cut-out or break-off at the end joining of the new brief case or portfolio icon is an emphasis on the creative direction Microsoft is trying to steer Office users.
With a statement logo should follow statement features. It will be nice to see Microsoft adding more creative features to office and expanding PowerPoint so as to really drive the new wave and attract more creatives to spend time tinkering with MS Office.
